2003 Chevrolet Avalanche
Chevrolet Avalanche is a crossover vehicle introduced in 2002 which undergone
lots of changes for 2003. Stand out among its features is the GM's wall or midgate
that separates the cabin from the pickup box.
The plastic body cladding was removed for 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche yet its simplicity
gives it a cleaner, sophisticated look. Instead of the plastic a bullet-proof
material in shade of a darker color was used to protect the rocker panels from

Features are improved to provide greater performance, safety and comfort. Two
weight ranges are available for 2003, the half-ton 1500 and the three-quarter
tone 2500. A 5.3-liter Vortec V8 engine with 285 horsepower and 325 pounds-feet
of torque is used by the 1500 backed up by a 4L60-E four-speed automatic transmission
rated to tow 8200 pounds for 2WD and 7900 pounds for 4WD. The 2500 weight range
growls with an 8.1-
liter V8 engine that can exert a maximum of 340 horsepower and 455 pounds-feet
of torque. With its double-powered leaf springs, towing capacity can be maximized
to 12,000 pounds.
The extra Driver Convenience package for 2003 includes steering-wheel-mounted
controls for the audio system, power adjustable pedals, automatic climate control,
power-folding outside mirrors with turn signals, homelink universal transmitter
and a trip computer and message center. This package provides extra ease and comfort
for a more relaxing travels.
